Mudgee High School is a government-funded co-educational comprehensive secondary day school, located in Mudgee, a regional town in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia.
Established in 1916,[3] the school enrolled approximately 810 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom 13 percent identified as Indigenous Australians and five percent were from a language background other than English.[1] The school is operated by the NSW Department of Education; the principal is Wayne Eade.

Timetable
[edit]Mudgee High School uses a 8 Period timetable starting at 9:00 am with a 16 minute Roll Call class where students are marked as at school or absent, morning messages about school events / opportunities, and then students can read a book or catch up on homework. Roll call is followed by 2 38 minute periods. Then a 20 minute recess break. 2 more periods, a 10 minute break. followed by 2 more periods, a 35 minute Lunch break, followed by 2 final periods ending the day at 3:25 pm. whole school assemblys are held in period 4 on Wednesdays in the gym. Electronic Devices
[edit]The New South Wales Department of Education has banned all electronic devices in schools since October 2023. To bring a phone or any other device to school it must be put in a YONDR pouch, which prevents use of the device. Alternatively, it the device may be locked at one of the 4 locking stations in the morning and can be unlocked in the afternoon before students depart.[6]

[edit]At the beginning of Year 7, all Mudgee High School students are placed in one of the following four houses, usually on the basis of their last name.

Every year there is a swimming and athletic carnival held in which students compete to earn their house points. A winner of each carnival and of the overall house championship is announced each year.
Attendance Points

Other forms of student acknowledgement
[edit]E-tick it | Students that display Safe, Respectful and Responsible behaviour may be given and SRR ticket worth 1 house point.
Weekly P&C awards | Each week a student identified as a positive school citizen is chosen by their year advisor for a P&C award. The award earns 15 house points and a $6 canteen voucher.
The house with the points at the end of the year will receive the House Cup Trophy. all students in this house will be celebrated during a longer BBQ lunch and the house published on a banner and displayed for a year.[4]
Transport
[edit]Mudgee High School is within walking distance of most of the township, however bus services are operated to and from the school by Ogdens Coaches and 2 are operated by APM Booths bus services.[citation needed]
School Newsletter
[edit]Each week the office staff produce a newsletter for parents and students to read, the newsletter contains information about recent school events and P&C awards announced and future programs to be held.
Sister schools
[edit]Mudgee High School has formed close links with several sister schools over the world including the Japanese Kita senri High School in Osaka, Japan, Nose Senior High School, and Ibaraki Nishi High School and, in East Timor, St. Francis of Assisi High School, in the town of Fatuberliu.
Every even year (Ex: 2022), a group of Mudgee High students and teachers make their way to Japan to further their study of the Japanese culture and language. The opposite occurs later in the same year when a group of Japanese students and teachers make their way to Mudgee.
Aurora College
[edit]Mudgee High School caters for Aurora College. Aurora allows students in rural and remote areas to remain in their local school and community while studying specialist subjects which their home school cannot currently offer. The school library has a distance education / Aurora room where Aurora lessons are held.[8]
