Yes, you are doing it right! About making the change so soon- you'll find that quite often happens. Lots of people just watch recent changes to find new things to edit so changes, possibly by more than one person, can occur within seconds. There isn't much that goes through unnoticed! The official part of the Deletion policy doesn't say there is a limit on who can vote. The proposed part of the policy says "A user's votes will be considered valid if that user has been registered at least one week before the listing, and has at least 25 non-minor article edits logged". Personally, I accept all votes if they appear to be made in good faith - ie - they don't seem to be new accounts created for the purpose of StuffingTheBallotBox. Angela. 20:10, Feb 3, 2004 (UTC)

Sniff. Did you read my beautiful examples of how to use the verbs lay and lie? Such artistry! So you don't think that the new introduction is better? All it really claims is that if you write any of the "incorrect" phrases in an essay you'll get it marked as wrong (which I believe is true). It clearly points out that language evolves. Hello, why do you put in two versions of your images. The syntax [[image:bla.jpg|thumb|Text]] allows you to automatically generate a smaller image version (width:180px) and [[image:bla.jpg|thumb|300px|Text]] allows you to generate one with a width of 300px. Ack ack! Another disruption!

Anyway, I quite like the table you've set up on the individual Star Trek episode pages. My question on the talk page was just one of curiosity. People have created simple messages that can be cut and pasted onto "collective" pages like episode lists. For example, the bottom of the 2001: A Space Odyssey article features a table created by the simple code {{msg:spaceodyssey}}. Some of these messages are listed at Wikipedia:MediaWiki_custom_elements. I'm not quite sure how this is done, but I think it might be useful for the List of Star Trek TNG episodes.

User page on Norwegian wiki

  I just came by your user page on the Norwegian wiki. Thought I should just drop a couple of comments.
  In your picture text, you have written "Jeg" which translates to "I". It would be more appropriate to write "Meg" (in english: "me") or "Dette er et bilde av meg." (in English: "This is a picture of me").
  Another comment is on the word "unnskyld", which quite correctly means "I'm sorry". But used like that, it would be more appropriate to use the word "Beklager". Whereas "unnskyld" is more like "I'm sorry I did that to you", "beklager" is better to use when trying to say "I'm sorry I can't help you out".

"Disneyland Park"

I'm sorry if I was too snippy with my edits to change "Disneyland Park" to Disneyland. You're right that there are a couple of places on the Disney web site itself which refers to the place as "Disneyland Park"; but there are many more places which don't have the "Park" in the name, so I'm inclined to believe the true name of the park is simply "Disneyland" but that even WDC is confused as to the proper name to use. You've inspired me to note this in Disneyland. :) - Brian Kendig 01:42, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Hello, the reason they use the phrase "Disneyland park" is that it is required for purposes of protecting their trademark. To remain valid, trademarks must always be used as an adjective, never as a noun. I have added an explanation to the Disneyland page. Johntex 07:23, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Stranger in a Strange Land

See my comments on Talk:Group sex. Group sex does not imply the absence of a relationship. It is a description of an activity which is clearly evident in Stranger in a Strange Land, where the definition of group marriage is very loosely defined in the context of being a "water brother" and part of the nest. Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. in re Sheela Lambert

where you noted copy edit one section; still needs more work. Thank you SO much for your work to date and yes, it certainly does!

It was started (by me I think) because she was referenced in some other articles I was working on. I took pieces of info from various places, her CV, history of bisexual movement, things googled, etc. intending to distill what was already too much data down to to the essential facts. But never had time to work on it.

Then another person came along and said that s/he would take over as a first major project and did make a start . . . by adding even more data that s/he found (much which was redundant, but that was intended to be combined and pruned into shape). But s/he too was unable to find the time to work on it.

So consequentially, it's in a terrible state of disrepair. It's much, much to long, has repeated and extraneous stuff, etc., etc. I would be SO happy if you wanted to continue and get the thing into shape.

PS bet you thought this would be another complaint!

PPS we have the same birthday, except I was born 27 March 1954.

I do know that right now her entry reads more like an "Activist's Resume" than a proper Wikipedia entry, I'm just grateful that the "bisexual patrol" got caught up in some other drama and did not busily eradicate this one too before it could be fixed, (see rant on my userpage . . LOL).

Ms. Lambert is a bisexual activist from NYC, (also see NYABN). She is in her late 40's the single (divorced? don't know if she was officially married) mother of one son who just graduated from college. She is a a Social Worker and Councilor by training, (don't know where her degree is from or precisely what in but could try to find out if important) so she is properly credentialed for the work she does around those issuers (report for City of NY Delivery of Health Services to Bisexual Community, working with GLAAD to make Information Packets, et. at.)[1].

Lambert's claims to notability are that she is one of the people who after about twelve (12) years of dogged work [2] got the major NYC "Gay" institutions (Pride Parade/Festival, Community Center & Film Festival) to acknowledge the existence/validity of and to change their names to include the entire LGBT community, (which was pretty ridiculous, particularly in the case of the Parade/Festival since it were created by a bisexual person, who as it changed from a rag-tag, militant, street activism type thing to the relatively slick Corporate & NYC Tourism Board production it is today [3] found herself and her community "erased" from the entire event).

In addition to being important in and of itself to the people who lived in NYC, this work Lambert participated in is quite significant because many other in the region (possibly beyond?) looked to the NYC Gay institutions to set the tone of acceptance in their own communities.

Also some people who were members of/leaders of these same "Gay" groups have since gone on to work in/head some of the big national LGBT rights groups, etc. So they then took with them these lessons of tolerance and inclusion that were so laboriously and painfully learned (or in the case of some people forcibly taught . . . dare I say 'rammed down their throats?') in NYC.

In recent years Lambert has gone on to expand her activism to a National (as a senior organizer with Bialogue which now frequently partners with BiNet USA, BRC, GLAAD, Gay and Lesbian Task Force, HRC, et. al) and international (she started Bi Writers Association [4] which now has an international membership) and one of the first US LGBT Groups to this year endorse International Day Against Homophobia.

An addition al minor point (or maybe not so minor if you are a media person) is that she was the first openly "Out & Proud" Bisexual person to work on NYC's "Gay" TV programs and also produced what as far as is known, the first ever TV show for the Bisexual community itself. It does seem a little strange to me that flags can be copyrighted, but they are works of art like anything else. Many of the flag images on Wikipedia are under free licenses, but Image:Slcflag.jpg is not, according to the copyright tag on its image description page. —Bkell (talk) 14:10, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

California County Route templates

Hi - silly question, probably, but I was just wondering why you're using stub metatemplates to make your new California County Route templates. They're obviously not stub templates, but they're showing up in some of the sweeps of new stub templates that the stub sorting wikiproject runs. If you look at the code of the top of your new templates, they all start with "<div class="boilerplate metadata" id="stub">" - they shouldn't have the stub ID (not sure what they should have, mind you... but it shouldn't be stub!). Mmmm. Good question. i'm not sure what you'd change it to. Most similar templates seem to start from {{Infobox road}} (have a look at an article like California State Route 229, for instance) - but that would mean starting them from scratch. You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.

This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.

After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.

The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.

In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.

For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.

In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.

All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.

In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Neighborhood watch grayscale.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Since your name has "CACR" only, your name has been removed next to your name on the large USRD-wide table, and your name has been added to the CACR specific table. Moot point

Hi, I notice that you recently removed the word "moot" from Vlissingen, Netherlands with the comment "do you actually know what "moot" means". I've no particular interest in the article, but as I read it, moot was being used as per the 2nd def in the OED ("debatable; undecided"). In my (UK) experience the word moot is often used in this way, as shorthand for 'a moot point'. Is it not used in this way in the US? Pterre (talk) 13:44, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
