Use of little known common name of "Chytrid" for this Division of the Fungi was unwarranted (unsupported by text) and inconsistent with treatment of article titles for other Fungi divisions - Marshman 18:13, 22 Jan 2004 (UTC)

It's not little known. The term chytrids is extremely common, at least, when discussing relationships and origins of fungi. On google, chytrids gets about 2/3 as many hits as chytridiomycota. As for the inconsistency, it's because our policy is to use common names first, but the other fungal divisions don't have common names. I would strongly recommend that this page be moved back. -- Josh
