To add a bit more content to this article, may I ask the following questions?

What are the drawbacks of such a program? Why is it criticized? Why would the NRP challenged it? What are the NRP's recommendations? Could this program work in other areas beside reading? Could this program work in other settings beside the classroom? What are the characteristics of unsuccessful SSR programs?

Possible Typo, Controversy

While I was adding a pop culture reference, I noticed the word "ecurriculum." Is this a typo, or does it refer to students working over the Internet? (In that case, it should be "ecurricula.")

I think this article would be stronger if we at least mentioned the controversy, the valid critiques of SSR. Darkfrog24 15:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
