This category is redundant. First, there is currently only one article listed: New York Giants. Second, its two parent categories, Category:National Football League teams and Category:New York City sports also lists New York Giants. Zzyzx11 19:04, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Also, all of the other sports teams on Wikipedia do not have its own individual seperate category. Zzyzx11 19:10, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. No potential. The cat has has only the one article for months. --A D Monroe III 19:45, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Delete. -Kbdank71 19:57, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- The first two reasons are not valid ones for deleting. First, present size doesn't mean that the category won't expand. Second, every article that defines a category should be in all the categories that its eponymous category is in—that is not a redundancy, because obviously a category and its defining article are in an identical classificatory relationship to other topics. However, your third reason indicates that there is no systematic categorization of players, coaches...anything by NFL team, and if that is to remain true, then delete. - Sorry Postdlf, I wrote my comments in a rush without really clarifing my thoughts. The main problem is my third reason: no other sports team has it own separate category listing players, coaches, etc. Zzyzx11 06:12, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Dozens and dozens have. Maybe not in the US, but many British and others have. Wincoote 11:11, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Ok, maybe I did not do enough due dilligence. But the fact remains that no other American football team has it own separate category listing players, coaches, etc. Zzyzx11 19:52, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)

- Keep (provisionally withdrawn, see below - I don't know how to do strikethough) All major sports teams should have their own category in the long run. There is so much to put in them, players, coaches, venues, etc. Wincoote 11:11, 19 Mar 2005 (UTC)**Wincoote, I would only agree with you if some Wikipedians (even yourself) would be willing to do that for each and every American football team. - There is no reason to suppose it won't happen in the long run. I make a couple of hundred edits a day, many of them categorisations, but I have no interest in American football. Wincoote 16:12, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- But since I'm the only one in favour of this, to help clear the page I'll say, delete for now, but hopefully someone will recreate it and populate it in the future. Wincoote 19:52, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
