- Oh. OK. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't think you can put a contributions page on your watchlist. Oh well. -Branddobbe 01:59, Feb 17, 2004 (UTC)

Rossami Ginne Be Þæm "Kelsey Grammer" Pistole Ascaþ
[edit]Good morning. I noticed that you added a lot of date links on the Kelsey Grammer article. I am curious what your thoughts were for adding date links around what appear to be very minor events (such as marriage or divorce years). Is that a path that you personally follow when reading other articles? Looking forward to your thoughts. Rossami 15:12, 18 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comment back. I'm not going to search out any particular pages just to delink years, but I do tend to delink the minor ones if I'm editing a page for another reason. The excessive links make if very hard for me to read the page. (Perhaps a sign that I need new glasses.) I only delink, though, on my assumption that the links are excessive. The rule of thumb I use is leave date-links for births, deaths and historical events that I'd want to see on a high-level timeline. If you see a positive value to more year or month links, I'd like to hear your thoughts. Rossami 20:19, 18 Feb 2004 (UTC)

B. Corr Ginne Atelaþ Of "Redirects" To Þæm Pistole Bioerca Guðmundsdottira
[edit]Greetings Djinn112 -- I think that the number of redirects you're creating is ... um ... perhaps more than is necessary. Just a friendly note that people may start deleting them without much regard for which ones are most useful. Thanks, BCorr ¤ Брайен 03:17, Mar 10, 2004 (UTC)
- Hi Djinn -- thanks for your note. It's not an evil thing, and it doesn't take up too much room, but there should be a pretty good likelihood that someone would search for a variaation. "Lyndon Baines Johnson" for "Lyndon Johnson" seems pretty likely; and even Bjork, Bjoerk, and Björk make a lot of sense, but IMHO matching each of those with each of Guthmundsdottir, Gudhmundsdottir, Gudmundsdottir, Guðmundsdottir, Guthmundsdóttir, Gudhmundsdóttir, Gudmundsdóttir and Guðmundsdóttir is excessive. It seems like very few people are going to look up a uncommon transliterations of edh as possible variations on her surname, and Icelandic is a small enough language community that no one who speaks it would have any question about how to spell it. And almost any English speaker will probably just stick with Bjork.
- I guess ultimately I'd just say that people will feel like you're not serious about Wikipedia and will be less likely to assume good faith. And since we're all volunteers here, people make decisions based on their best guess about people's intentions and seriousness (i.e. is this edit for real?) about what they do.
- In case you haven't seen it, visit Wikipedia:Redirect. It doesn't give any hard and fast rules, but I may be helpful. -- BCorr ¤ Брайен 03:59, Mar 10, 2004 (UTC)
- No problem. And have you been to the Latin Vikipædia -- I think you'll like it too. -- BCorr ¤ Брайен 04:37, Mar 10, 2004 (UTC)
Marc Redmond Ginn Of Þæm Leoðe "Plastic Jesus" Atelaþ
[edit]Just want to clear this up, "******" is a cover of the song "Plastic Jesus" from Cool Hand Luke. It was called "******" on the back of the album and on the disc, but was refered to in the booklet (transcribed from the copy in front of me): "All songs written by the Flaming Lips, published by ... except 9 * "Song From Cool Hand Luke" - Plastic Jesus"
It wasn't on the soundtrack of the film (presumably there wasn't a soundtrack), it was played/sung by the title character during the film.
The Flaming Lips have never explained why the didn't just call it "Plastic Jesus" or "The Song From Cool Hand Luke"
I'm not sure whether this is important enough to be added to entry, or if there might be a better way of putting it. Perhaps replace "also known as" with "cover of" ? I'm new, learning.

[edit]Hello Djinn! Thanks for being alert with respect to copyright violations. However, if you spot them, you need to tag them with a correct boilerplate text, which goes like:
Removed possible copyright infringement. Text that was previously posted here is the same as text from this source, which includes a copyright notice: <br> : SITE WHICH WAS COPYED <br> This page is now listed on [[Wikipedia:Possible copyright infringements]]. To the poster: If there was permission to use this material under terms of our license or if you are the copyright holder of the externally linked text, then please indicate so on the talk page. If there was no permission to use this text then please rewrite the page at: <br> :[[Talk:PAGE NAME/temp]] <br> or leave this page to be deleted. Deletion will occur about one week from the time this page title was placed on the Votes for deletion page. If a temp page is created, it will be moved here following deletion of the original. It also should be noted that the posting of copyrighted material that does not have the express permission from the copyright holder is possibly in violation of applicable law and of our policy. Those with a history of violations may be temporarily suspended from editing pages. If this is in fact an infringement of copyright, we still welcome any original contributions by you. Thanks, ~~~~
Notice that the site and page name must be introduced for each case. This is needed in order to resolve the problematic article. The articles need to be with this boilerplate for at least a week, to be deleted. Thanks, Muriel 13:55, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)

[edit]Thought I ought to be more specific about what I wrote earlier; it's not the Starfleet ship names that are "vandal magnets" but rather the year/decade entries; we've had a lot of problems in the past with people coming by and writing things like "3487 - Evel Eprur Zurg blows Buzzes hed of! Haha!" We had a sort of loose consensus on VfD a few months ago to avoid redlinking years and decades unless there's an article. - Hephaestos|§ 20:21, 15 Mar 2004 (UTC)
W. Wuds Ginn Atelaþ Of Andgiete His Be Þæm Pistole "Constitution class" Steorrascipa
[edit]The trouble with making links out of all the names is that most of the live links lead to pages outside the Star Trek universe, so the links are misleading. You could make pages for each ship, as has been done for the Starship Enterprise, the Enterprise-A, and the USS Defiant, but since nothing much is known about the others, why not put the information right there on Constitution class starship?
e.g.
- USS Constellation (NCC 1017)
- Named for USS Constellation. Lost on Stardate ####
(episode 2.06, "The Doomsday Machine")
- Named for USS Constellation. Lost on Stardate ####

[edit]Hello again,
Nice work on the individal Starship_classes pages. You're filling in the gaps amazingly quickly. I have a question about the Danube class starship. Is this the class of runabout that was seen in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode Timescape? If so, do you know the identity of the ship that appeared in that episode?
Also, how do you translate Old English (or are you fluent in it)?
Acegikmo1 23:37, Mar 20, 2004 (UTC)
- Hmmmm..at the STARTREK.COM Article on Runabout, it is said that "An unidentified ship of this class ferried Captain Picard, Lieutenant Commander Data, Geordi and Counselor Troi back to the Starship Enterprise to find it temporally frozen alongside a Romulan warbird on stardate 46682.4." Do you think it is worth it to inlclude this information on the Danube class starship page?

[edit]No, the stuff at things walking out is different from my previous site, although I did have it on there in a subfolder. I don't believe I ever had anything from the design scheme (traces of your fingernails) on the front page of my old site. (By the way, there is a "real" index on the site with links to such gems as a random-Javascript-text-runner Rock Paper Scissors game, and a very meager Star Trek reviews section. AIM me for more info if you'd like; my AIM name is the same as my Wikipedia name.)
Also, thank you for the birthday greetings.

Gilgamescus Jinni Dicet Vestimentorum Jacqui In Fabella Televisiontis Samurai Jack
[edit]If you've seen most of the shows, you'd know about this. In fact, the sight of Samurai Jack in his underwear is just as well known as the sight of Jack in his gi. There's a lot of exposed skin in the series, though it's all done tastefully. I'm going to readd the comment, but also add how it's valued fan service to many (mostly women) who watch the show. I mean, just take a look at the SJ fan sites run by people old enough to vote. - 21:56, 30 June 2004 (UTC) Gilgamesh
