Golestan Treaty: a treaty that was signed on October 13, 1813 in the lawn of Golestan village [in Karabakh] between Iran [Persia] and Russia and ended the first round of the Iran-Russia wars. The treaty was based on the status quo, that every position and place should remain in the status that it had at the time of signing the treaty. Accordingly, the provinces of Baku, Darband [Darbent], Shakki [Shaki/Sheki], Shervan, Karabakh, Ganja, and all of Dagestan and Georgia, that is all the lands that the Russians had conquered and possessed during the war, remained belonging to them. A part of Talesh remained in possession of Iran and the other part was in the possession of Russia. [...]
