The human shields page that Christaan says references O'Keethe was largely written by Christaan, and the human shield action was not a notable action. Furthermore, O'keeth himself does not seek notability, if you read his diatribe on the talk page "Popularity is completely and utterly unimportant to Paul and in this we are one." There were probably some press releases and notices when the Norway scholarship winners were announced too. This is very like.--Silverback 12:00, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- It's interesting that, when you nominated it for deletion, you cite Kenneth O'Keefe as a vanity page and now you're trying to argue that he's not notable because he doesn't want to be. This line of argument is irrational; whether a person desires notability or not, or even if they are in fact vain, has nothing to do with whether that person is notable or not. It's seems rather obvious that your desire to have this page deleted is politically motivated, which is very unfortunate. The human shield action to Iraq was of course notable and any cursory search of the myriads of commentary and news articles surrounding the subject is evidence of that. It also featured on around half a dozen global news networks. If you'd done some research you'd know this. Please don't waste people's time with these politically motivated attacks. --Christiaan 14:35, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Even if the human shield actions were notable, the leaders weren't. The human shields were not a cohesive pacifist group, some even openly supported the Saddam regime. So where was the leadership and what was the notability? I doubt these pages would be here if you and O'Keefe yourselves had not wanted to memorialize your failed efforts.--Silverback 17:36, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Actually the human shield action was noted on Wikipedia long before I started editing on Wikipedia or elaborating on the topic. It just happens to be what got me into Wikipedia, i.e. something that interests me. Your comment that, "There were probably some press releases and notices," just proves your complete ignorance of the topic, or worse. Ken O'Keefe isn't notable so much for leading the action but for instigating [1] and organising it. That you're in denial about the notability of the human shield action is no skin off my nose. -- Christiaan 23:08, 11 Jan 2005 (UTC)
