There are tons of excellent swing photos at stock xchng]--tire swings, baby swings close up, canvas swings, all kinds of stuff. Not quite public domain--you have to contact each photog and confirm that they're willing to have their photos used under GFDL, as I did with Image:Sandbox25703_5762.jpg. If someone wanted to take the time to email these folks, they'd probably be glad for the exposure. Elf | Talk 04:34, 1 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

National Swing Association

[edit]

It would appear that user palmdale has put one over on us. This user added the bit about "National Swing Association" in a 5 February 2009 edit. This edit is the user's only contribution. A Web search for "National Swing Association" results in only 29 actual hits, with no authoratative reference and many from sites that have quoted this article. I would recommend removing this reference ASAP. 96.252.229.220 (talk) 14:05, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thanks.  Sandstein  15:31, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Swinging sideways

[edit]

I find it hard to believe someone invented swinging sideways. It has been around as long as playground swings have. Every kid in the world has done it at least once. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.229.112.135 (talk) 14:11, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Swinging technique

[edit]

Has anyone got an explanation to add to the article regarding the mechanics of swinging and how shifting the center of mass relative to the seat enhances the action? Gregorydavid 18:56, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Porch swing

[edit]

Porch swing redirects here, but is not mentioned in this article. It is also referred to as a "swing hammock" or "frame hammock" though the type I have in mind is not really a hammock, having a fixed seat suspended within a fixed frame ... 84.144.70.115 (talk) 13:27, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

kiiking

[edit]

Is it possible kiiking was based on that thing where kids would try to swing over the bar? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.229.112.135 (talk) 14:18, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Swing (seat) biased

[edit]

Hi, the title Swing (seat) is (culturally?) biased for one particular kind of swing as Estonian and Russian swings are swings on which one stands. -- Stratoprutser (talk) 14:17, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the name's been bothering me too. Rope swings anyone? The real question now, what is a better name? Swing (Play Equipment) could work, but is clunky Atreem (talk) 14:13, 8 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Who cares, seriously. Bomberswarm2 (talk) 13:18, 19 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
