Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wikipedia:Popular articles
This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion of the article below. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record.
The result of the debate was
Redundant with Wikipedia:Popular pages, not edited since 14 December 2003, only edited once (to create it), uneditable (protected), only 4 pages link to it (3 lists of every page in the Wikipedia namespace and 1 list of protected pages), and with broken link syntax. I don't think it even needs to be turned into a redirect, but might be useful as a redirect (since some say "article" where others say "page"). cesarb 23:58, 31 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- As a courtesy, I'd recommend that you drop a query on Angela's talk page. If this was an idea whose time never came, I'm sure she'd have no objections to just deleting it herself. If, on the other hand, it's some important thing, she can explain it. I note, though, that namespace is not normally a thing VfD handles, at least in my experience. Geogre 02:29, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect rather than delete. - SimonP 05:42, Sep 1, 2004 (UTC)
- The intention seems good, but redirect would do. --Pgreenfinch 08:04, 1 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- This is a funny VfD listing. It wasn't edited once. I didn't create it. The link syntax is not broken. It would not be useful as a redirect. It wasn't an idea whose time never came. This is an automatically generated page by Special:Popularpages, which is currently disabled. I don't know if that is ever coming back, and I've a feeling the special pages no longer rely on these weird HTML pages in the Wikipedia namespace anyway. Since the others now seem to get their data from somewhere else, not from the Wikipedia namespace, I'm guessing this wouldn't be needed even if Special:Popularpages did come back, but I don't know for sure. It appears I created it because it used to put whoever last opened Special:Popularpages in the page history (usually as the only entry in the history).
This isn't a vote to keep or delete until someone can confirm whether special pages still rely on these or not.Delete Angela. 11:14, Sep 1, 2004 (UTC) - I asked Brion VIBBER about it. His response was that those cache pages are obsolete and can be deleted without a problem. Delete. -- Cyrius|✎ 02:27, 2 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect. I type in "article" when I mean "page" fairly often, and I'm sure others do as well. -Sean Curtin 17:16, Sep 2, 2004 (UTC)
