[edit]Should this page not be called "Scottish TV", to accurately reflect the company's broadcast name?
- No. The "scottish tv" is a recent invention for the SMG look. Prior to this, it was always known, on- and off-screen, as "Scottish Television". Chris 19:37, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Just to avoid possible confusion, I've created a redirect from Scottish TV to Scottish Television (and the same for Grampian TV). Vclaw 21:03, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Scottish Television → STV Central — These are the correct titles, and the ones by which they are now most commonly reffered to as. Nocrowx (talk) 22:47, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
No, let's not make these moves. These are the titles for the modern companies which bought the historic ones. If you want to start a new article on STV North or STV Central then go ahead. But please leave the articles on the old companies alone. -- Derek Ross | Talk 01:17, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Slight restructuring
[edit]Hi, have just been going through and restructuring slightly. I have added seperate sections for their studio complexes, their current sub regional news system and about their ever changing on screen identity. I hope i have made an improvement to the article by adding these, but feel free to criticise my work and discuss it here. By adding these sections, it also mirrors the pages for the other ITV regions and allows easier comparison.
I congratulate everyone who has worked on this page: the shere volume of information, history and of the huge list of programmes is a credit to you. Very well done. My only possible suggestion would be to put the programmes into three columns instead of two, just to make it easier on the eye and less like a huge list.
Well done again. Rafmarham (talk) 12:19, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Scottish Television → STV Central – They haven't used the name "Scottish Television" since 2006. Unreal7 (talk) 12:47, 20 April 2017 (UTC) --Relisting. -- Dane talk 22:36, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Support, I would say. Nominator is correct re the actual name, and looking around a bit I don't see people using the old name in print or anything like that. This Google Ngram does indicate that in books "Scottish Television" exists at a measurable level while "STV Central" doesn't; but that's probably an artifact of the old name. Herostratus (talk) 02:36, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
- 'Rejected the users has failed to understand WHY This page has this name. This page deals with all history of Scottish Television up to the point of the rebranding, hence why you have no information about STV on this page. ALL STV stuff is on this page: STV (TV_channel) which covers STV north and central.--Crazyseiko (talk) 20:34, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
- Oh. I thought that STV Central and the TV channel STV were two different things -- the first being the corporation, which I gather owns the TV channel (and other stuff). Otherwise why have two different articles. And apparently STV Central runs STV Glasgow and STV Edinburgh as well as STV (TV_channel). So it looks like they are two different things. Right? If they are not then we have a different, and bigger, problem.
- There are... STV Group (Scotland) operates the two ITV licensees in northern and central Scotland, formerly known as Grampian Television (now legally STV North) and Scottish Television (now legally STV Central). IT also controls STV2 formally know. The whole point of ths was you can't have all the history etc on one page it would be far to big, hence the reason why it was split around the pound the two ITV licensees come under conman name. --Crazyseiko (talk) 22:50, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Generally, although there's no rule about this, we cover the entire history of a corporation under its current name. Exceptions are made, of course -- if people keep using the old name, such that it remains the common name. However, looking at articles and stuff, I didn't find this to be the case for this entity. While there are many references to "Scottish television" as a generic subject, I didn't find newpaper stories still calling the entity "Scottish Television" as the name of the corporation or the TV channel(s). Rather they seem to use "STV". I did not do an exhaustive search and I could be wrong about this. Herostratus (talk) 00:00, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- You do know Scottish Television short hand has been STV since 1969? Thus most of the time people will say STV, in year 1998 the parent company was SMG, then it was renamed STV, I find it very strange that only this page is getting this treatment and not STV North. --Crazyseiko (talk) 22:50, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Support per WP:NAMECHANGES. Sources published since the rebranding seem to use "STV Central" or variants far more than "Scottish Television". The numbers are a but hard to parse, as "Scottish Television" returns hits meaning just television in Scotland. There's no reason history as "Scottish Television" can't be included under the current name.--Cúchullain t/c 15:32, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- I think we need to get alot more people on here , I shall ping recent users from this page along with some other who have edited other TV pages to see more rounded views.
@Derek Ross, GMc, Hughpugh, AxG, Boushenheiser, Bonusballs, and Cyphoidbomb: It has been proposed that Scottish Television be renamed and moved to STV Central.. Crazyseiko (talk) 22:50, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose My reasoning has not changed since the last move request. I have no objection to new articles on the modern corporate entities. In fact I would urge the supporters of the move to create such articles and move the information pertinent to them from this article, to the new one. However the bulk of the information in this article and the Grampian Television one is about the historical corporations and should appear under the historic names. -- Derek Ross | Talk 01:17, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose. Retain the historic name for the history of the station, and oppose WP:TLAs in titles. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 06:08, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Accuracy
[edit]Introduction suggests "three ITV franchises in Scotland". Is this correct? 82.71.25.139 (talk) 17:45, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, see the last paragraph of the introduction where they are listed. Dr Greg talk 17:49, 21 November 2022 (UTC)
