[edit]I'm on a mission to remove every single NN person from this list. - ßottesiηi (talk) 16:50, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Taking a break, but we're getting somewhere. - ßottesiηi (talk) 17:13, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Done. I might go through a second time later and be a little bit more selective, but there aren't any random kids any more. - ßottesiηi (talk) 02:26, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hate to break it you, but you removed some valid names. Lynn Seaton is about fifty years old[1], worked with Count Basie, and is in Wikipedia:Music encyclopedia topics/29. Some of these lists have red-links to expand things, in fact this is one of the few jazz lists that doesn't. I thought maybe that meant you guys and gals just did a great job covering the topic, but perhaps not.--T. Anthony 08:47, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think it was I who removed him, not Bottesini. As you can see from my edit summary, I am well aware that removing all redlinked names is not a perfect solution, as there are a number of notable jazz bassists with no article as of yet. But it is a highly convenient and objective way to prune the list, eliminating a lot of self-promotion and linkspam. It would only take a couple minutes to write a stub for Lynn Seaton; that would set him apart from the non-notables I eliminated.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back 09:01, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've been making jazz stubs all night, my wrist is bothering me. Maybe next week.--T. Anthony 09:12, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
- Judging by your edit history, yes you have! My hat's off to you for your hard work. And sorry about to have deleted noted musicians like Seaton--I was just tired of people adding themselves to their list even though they had no article, just some external link to their lame website....--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back 09:17, 18 September 2006 (UTC)

Year of birth
[edit]It is redudant to have the year of birth. It should be on their article. Unless there is a valid reason to have it, I am removing them. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 16:54, 9 September 2016 (UTC)
- It should be in their article, yes, but it makes sense to have dates here too. Otherwise we just have a list of names, which offers nothing more than a category would. Ideally there should be a very brief summary for each entry too. --Deskford (talk) 17:11, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

So many Norwegian bass players on this list
[edit]Is there really so many notable jazz players in Norway or is this list a bit biased upon norwegian jazz musicians? 124.217.48.21 (talk) 23:49, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
